Labradoodles are extremely intelligent,
friendly dogs that were first breed in Australia, By Wally Conran.
Wally worked for Guide Dogs Victoria and was contacted by a blind lady that lived in Hawaii and who suffered
from severe allergies and wanted a dog to aid her in everyday activities. That is when Wally Conran through to combine the Lab and the Stander
Poodle. They had limited success with their Labradoodles. But there
were breeders that had falling in love with them. So the breed
stated.
Labradoodles are very social. They
easily accept other dogs and new people. In fact, they welcome newcomers into the pack with delight. Although
they may bark when a stranger is near their territory, they will not go beyond that into any type of “attack
“mode. As soon as they have a chance to sniff the stranger, that person or animal is welcome. A Labradoodle
can’t be counted on to protect the home and family unless the intruder is intimidated by the size and sound of
the canine.
Another important fact about Labradoodles is their intelligence. Owners are
typically surprised at how responsive their pets are, seemingly capable of knowing what is wanted of them ahead of
time. Labradoodles have the tendency to outfox their owner if not trained. Owners MUST TRAIN their dogs! This will
bring harmony for both you and your pet.
The last very important factor about labradoodles are that they are NOT
“hypo-allergenic” there is not dog that is truly “hypo-allergenic” (means completely non-reactive for allergy
sufferers.) Labardoodle are “allergy friendly”. These means that
people who suffer from allergies and asthma tend to be more tolerant of them. Doodles are among other dogs that have human like hair. Although even
among Labadooodles there is a variation in coats. So it is important to work with your breeder to make sure you
get the coat that will work the best for you. If your allergen is
to the saliva of the dog. There is no breed that is better for you them anther, each dog is different and there
might not be a dog that you can have. The best thing for people that have allergen to the saliva is not to let
the dog lick you.

A first generation hybrid Labradoodle
is the product of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle.
As first generation hybrids, these dogs have the added health benefits associated to
Hybrid
Vigour.
This is a phenomenon in animal breeding referring to the fact that the first cross between two unrelated
purebred lines is healthier and grows better than either parent line.
Coat
Maintenance: Low
to Moderate care
Coat
Description: Coat
grows to about 2-3 inches in length and requires occasional combing. Coats are often hair coats, and
others can have wavy or curly coats.

Not recommend for families with allergies. Might do ok in
families that have very mild allergies. When a family has moderate to severe allergies, a backcross Doodle is
recommended.

FIRST GENERATION BACKCROSS LABRADOODLES - F1b
A
backcross pup is the result of a hybrid bred back to a poodle or lab. Most are breed back to a
poodle. The resulting dog is, on average, 1/4 Labrador Retriever and 3/4 Poodle.
Although
there is less vigour in this crossing than in the original hybrid, the first generation backcross still is close
enough in the breeding tree to benefit from hybrid vigour. With each successive generation vigour is
lost.
Coat
Maintenance: moderate
to high care
Coat
Description: Coat
continues to grow in length and requires combing and occasional grooming. It is usually thicker and
curlier than a first generation Labradoodle with a wavy or curly coat.
Shedding:
very
light to non-shed
Allergy
Friendliness: Backcross
Labradoodles are recommended for families with moderate to severe allergies.

SECOND GENERATION LABRADOODLES - F2
·
A
second generation Labradoodle is the result of a Labradoodle bred to a Labradoodle - and there are very few
of these actually bred as the second generation hybrid is genetically the most varied generation possible.
When breeding on, most Labradoodle breeders breed the second generation as a backcross
instead.

· MULTI-GENERATION
LABRADOODLES
Technically
a multigeneration Labradoodle should be the result of generations of Labradoodle to Labradoodle breeding, but in
practice backcrosses and poodles are also used in the early generations.
When
multigeneration Labradoodles were first introduced to North American breeders, they were given this Lab-Poodle
breeding program as the breeding model for Labradoodles, which suggested that Poodles could be reintroduced into
the early generations:
